The City “Varanasi” is situated in the middle Ganga valley.The river system of the city consists of the mighty Ganga, Gomti, Varuna, Assi, Banganga, Chandra Prabha and Karmnasa are tributaries of the Ganga that drain the area. The Name “Varanasi” is derive from the two rivers that heading toward the city, the Varana to the north and the Assi to the south.
